Percy Harvin Biography

Born in 1988 in Virginia Beach, Virginia, Percy Harvin has become one of the most notable rookie players in the NFL in the 2009-10 season. Officially born William Percival "Percy" Harvin III, Harvin had athletics in his family as his mom ran track and later became a coach. His siblings were also involved in athletics. During his youth he was known for being an outstanding player in touch football games. In high school the player was noted for being an incrediblyfast runner as he sprinted the 40-yard dash in just 4.32 seconds. While playing for Landstown High School in Virginia Beach Harvin's team won the Virginia High School State Championship in 2004. In addition to football, Harvin also proved to be a fantastic track runner and basketball player during his high school years.

In college Harvin attended the Universtiy of Florida where he played for the Florida Gators. There he played on championship teams on in the Pop Warner and NCAA. During his years in college Harvin was one of the strongest offensive threats in the country, having totaled 133 catches for 1,929 yards and 13 touch downs.

In January, 2009 Harvin said he would forgoe his remaining college year and participate in the NFL draft. In April that year he was chosen to be a member of the Minnesota Vikings, where he went to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year of the 2009-2010 football season by the Associated Press.
